5 Yellow will begin their first round of literature circles this month! Each student will have their own independent literature circle novel to read at home and during school. They will meet with their peers that are also reading the same novel as them every Tuesday and Friday of the week. Students have a packet on their iPad where they can see how many pages are due for each meeting. It is a fun time for students to have more independence with their reading, as well as practice having respectful discussions with their peers about their books! Below you can find the directions for what is due for each session:
As we read our novels, we will continue to practice our writing strategy "R.A.C.E" (Restate the question, Answer the question, Cite textual evidence, and Explain your answer).
Students will continue to look for "signposts" as they read. As we read, we notice the 6 "signposts" which will help students better comprehend and analyze what they read. This will alert readers to significant moments in the text, therefore, they begin to dig deeper into the reading.
